volunteer work for preparation of relief for Aila Effected people
Chronic flooding and water-logging continue to worsen the situation as many protective dams broken along the coastline. Salt water has contaminated many ponds and wells, leading to a shortage of clean drinking water and an outbreak of diarrhoea in the affected area. So many families are continuing to struggle against the long-term effects of the storm.
This situation will become even more difficult with the on-set of the monsoon season, and as another full moon brings higher tides. Timing is critical to repair coastal dams, yet it has the little plan to intervene.
